This was the first modular data center in use in Japan. It was designed and constructed to have a dedicated server module (Smart Mod). A separate module (utility platform) contains generators and heat rejection.
Because this type of structure is non-existing in Japan, it is not described in building codes, making a building permit potentially impossible.
PDFM successfully negotiated with the Japan government to allow the project to proceed.
